Gathering Words

Welcome to all friends and family on this beautiful and joyful day. We have come together to celebrate this sacred time in the lives of <bride> and <groom>.  We invite you to set aside the worries and concerns of everyday life and embrace now this happy moment amid the enchanting natural beauty that is Hawaii.

This is an opportunity for us to share not only in the joy of <bride> and <groom>’s love for one another, but also to reaffirm and appreciate the love and the friendship in our own lives. We gather today in the spirit of love, what we call in these islands the spirit of Aloha.  We have gathered to celebrate the love that has brought you <groom> and <bride> together.    Let us celebrate with <bride> and <groom> as they unite in marriage, recognizing that marriage is a coming together in mind, body, and spirit.

There is so much beauty to behold here in Hawaii.  The softness of the breeze, the fragrance of the flowers, the sounds of the ocean, the sky awash with sunset.  I invite you <bride> and <groom>, and all gathered here today, to let yourselves think about how our lives are part of the natural world, where change is as constant as the movement of the ocean’s waves.  Let yourself be in awe of life, as we are in awe of the ocean.  Yet without fear, because life, like the ocean, is an ever renewing source of nourishment, joy, wonder, and enchantment.  So, let yourself be excited by all the things life will bring to you, share this bounty of experiences with one another, and trust in the Supreme Intelligence to provide all that you need to learn and grow together.

Remembrance of Those Not With Us

At this time, we would like to take a moment of silence to remember those who are not here with us.  Even though they are not here physically, they are a part of the foundation that makes <bride> and <groom> the people they are today.  We cherish the memories of our friends and family and acknowledge that they are with us in spirit today.
            Amen
